FALLON – Fallon has always believed in “walking what you talk,” and leading by example. That passion is what led her to start the only Doberman Pinscher rescue in the State of Tennessee, Tennessee Doberman Rescue Plus (www.TDR.dog), and attaining her MBA degree while running a rescue, working full time, and having a child. She is a firm believer in education, whether it be for dogs or people, and loves doing what she can to help dogs and dog owners better their relationships and bonds through training and communication. An animal lover from the time she was too young to toddle, Fallon spent her childhood bringing home strays, working with them, and competing on horseback in 3-Day Eventing, before later deciding to turn her attention towards animal welfare and rescue. In the time that Fallon has been Founder and President of TDR+, she has personally been involved in the rescue of thousands of dogs (and still counting), and has grown the organization from a fledgling group of fosters – to a 501(c)3 rescue with volunteers and fosters throughout TN, KY, and in parts of NC and VA as well. Having personally treated and worked with dogs of all imaginable health and behavioral backgrounds (as not only a rescuer, but also a former veterinary technician), Fallon is excited to bring her K9 rehabilitative knowledge, nutrition and health expertise, and compassionate training approach to OLK9 dogs and clients!

SANDRA – (Sevierville and Knoxville area) – Raised in a military family, Sandra had the opportunity to travel the world over – her passion for dogs and animal welfare traveling right along with her. As a young adult, Sandra became employed as a veterinary technician where she worked closely with the staff (assisting in the routine care and surgical procedures).  The experience she gained there became a valuable asset to her and the dogs she loves.  Over the years, Sandra took numerous animals in need into her home – nursing them back to health at her personal expense.  Once recovered from their emotional and physical traumas, she then found them loving forever homes.  During Sandra’s years rehabilitating dogs, she became an active foster and volunteer for the dog rescue – For Pet’s Sake Animal Rescue.  Sandra considers herself to be a Pit Bull advocate and enjoys doing what she can to change misconceptions about this highly misunderstood breed.  Beyond simply being a professional trainer for OLK9 clients, on her own time, Sandra utilizes her training skills in our East Tennessee community by volunteering with local rescues and shelters to help dogs become more adoptable.  Sandra has now brought her rehabilitative knowledge to Off Leash K9 Training and the Sevierville area in order to provide pets and their owners a better bond through communication and respect for each other!

SHANNON – Shannon brings a valuable combination of life skills to the OLK9 team!  With her history as a social worker and special needs adoption coordinator for children and teens in state custody for over 20 years, Shannon understands what it takes to help those dealing with traumatic life experiences.  Shannon has always been drawn to “dog people”, and it’s no secret that her life-long passion has been working with animals.  Shannon has been involved with numerous all-breed dog rescue organizations since the late 90’s, but primarily with German Shepherd rescue since 2007.  In that time, she has been instrumental in rescuing, fostering, transporting, rehabilitating and coordinating adoptions for hundreds of German Shepherds and in 2010 became an active member of Southeast German Shepherd Rescue serving as the East TN area coordinator, adoption coordinator, an officer.  Shannon is currently the longest active area coordinator with Southeast German Shepherd Rescue and feels that giving back to animals in need will always be her life passion, whether that’s through dog rescue or dog training.  Shannon is located in the Knoxville area OLK9 region.

JEN – Jennifer’s love of dogs came early in life; growing up, there were always dogs in her life and she knew her career goal was to work with dogs in some capacity. After entering college, Jen realized that biology and chemistry were not her strong suits so she reluctantly changed her major from veterinary medicine to finance. During her time in college and after graduation, she found her niche in transportation management where she spent 17 years. During that time she still maintained her love for dogs while rescuing, fostering and training dogs in need.

In 2012, she entered the community of dock diving when she realized her lab was a natural at it and fell in love with canine athletics. After that, Jen became very passionate about canine nutrition, training, first aid, and behavior – and how all of that related to making a canine athlete. She became a board member of Smoky Mountain DockDogs in 2015 and actively helps dogs not only to dock dive but learn how to swim as well. In 2015 and 2016, she and her dog, Buckeye have earned several invitations for different disciplines to the World Championships.

Jen brings a somewhat unique approach to OLK9 Knoxville with her background in canine athletics, a passion for veterinary procedures and the K9 body, and business experience. She lives in Knoxville with her 10-year-old rescue, Mojo, a 4-year-old lab, Buckeye, and 2-year-old lab, Sloopy.

MEGAN- Megan is a head trainer for Off Leash K9 Triad Area. Ever since she was a little girl, she has always had a lot of love for animals, especially dogs. Megan grew up in Columbus, Ohio and first started working with animals when she was a teenager at a Pet Supplies Plus. She worked there until she moved to Bowling Green, Ohio where she attended Bowling Green State University and graduated in four years with her Bachelors of Science in Education as a Dance major.

For the last three years, Megan worked at All Pets Considered, a holistic pet store and grooming salon that focuses on working with various animal rescues and shelters amongst the triad. They also serve as a foster family for many animals that are up for adoption throughout the city. She is very knowledgeable in animal health, specifically nutrition, and is also certified in pet CPR.  She has also spent time with another dog training company for the past two years and learned the basics there.  She was excited to continue her education and training with Off Leash K9 Training and our methods!

ANDREA- Andrea’s compassion for dogs led her to pursue a different path than she expected. For years, she volunteered time with several rescue and foster groups. She found there was often a foundational problem with many dogs cycling through shelters and a lack of training. After nearly a decade working as a CPA, she left the corporate desk life and moved on to join the Off Leash K9 Training Team, where she felt she could make a true impact on strengthening the relationship and communication between people and their canine companions. Andrea wanted to help play a role in breaking the cycle many owners fall into of rehoming their dog or taking them to the shelter, or simply not enjoying their dog’s company.

Andrea is a Winston-Salem native. After graduating from Mount Tabor High School, she spent her freshman year of college at Appalachian State University before deciding to come back down the mountain to attend Wake Forest University. She graduated from WFU with her Bachelors of Science in Business and went on to earn her Masters of Science in Accountancy from The University of North Carolina – Greensboro. When she is not training dogs, you can find her training and coach people in fitness classes, like barre and yoga.

Andrea brings a unique outlook to OLK9 Winston-Salem with her business background, rescue and foster work, experience with military personnel, and love for her hometown! She lives in Winston-Salem with her fiancé, who is an Active Duty Sergeant in the Army, 82nd Airborne. They have three rescue dogs, Sophie, Georgia, and Maverick….and they each have interesting stories that play a huge part in her passion for dog training…so be sure to ask her to share! And…Go Deacs!!

JOHN- John has been a dog person all his life. Whether it be training the family pets when he was young, to his first taste of real obedience training with Dobermans almost thirty years ago, it has been one of the passions of his life.

After a career in open wheel and NASCAR marketing for the past twenty years, he decided to get off the road and pursue his desire to help owners and their dogs live a happier, more enjoyable life together. John especially enjoys helping dogs with behavioral problems that frustrate their owners who don’t realize many problems can be helped with basic obedience, structure, and impulse control. He finds working with rescued pets to be most rewarding as it truly gives a lucky dog a better chance at life.

John has spent several years learning and applying modern training and motivation techniques, along with studying dogs behavior. Understanding the signals dogs give us is key to gauging how best to proceed with their training.

Being a firm believer that training should be an enjoyable, relationship building experience that helps families grow closer, it seemed the right fit to become a member of the OLK9 training family.

KATIE- Katie’s love for animals started early, taking in family pets that were dumped in the empty lot down the street from her home. Even at the age of 10, she was rescuing dogs and rehoming them whenever she had the opportunity.

While it’s her love for animals that is the core of her passion, Katie’s 10+ years of Shotokan Karate helped mold her sense of self-discipline, her ability to perform under pressure and strengthened her leadership skills.

Katie holds a minor in Anthropology as well as Education and has taken her 5 years of Corporate Training experience “to the dogs,” teaching not only basic obedience to canines but coaching owners into becoming better leaders for their dogs. With her background in reading people’s body language and understanding how dogs revolutionized beside us, she believes we can better understand the canine mentality.

Katie has spent the past 5 years volunteering in a multitude of shelters and working with rescues, including but not limited to Miami Dade Animal Shelter. She has evaluated hundreds of shelter dogs for service animal work and has worked hundreds of hours honing her craft as a dog trainer. She has a working background in rewards-based training and quickly picked up the Off Leash K9 Training tactics. Her training style is a balanced “firm but fair,” mentality, and she wholeheartedly believes that a little confidence building can go a long way—for both dogs and their people.

When she’s not training dogs, you’ll find Katie out on the Ocean. She is a certified FII Freediver, and through hard work, determination, and learning to “just breathe,” her deepest dive is 58 ft.

KEELY- Keely was born and raised in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Determined at a young age to learn the particulars of dog training, Keely attended local dog classes where she found her desire for improving the relationship between a dog and their owner. After graduating from Fort Lauderdale High and Broward College, Keely decided to pursue her passion as a dog trainer in Austin, Texas where she attended Starmark Academy. This gave her the opportunity to work with rescue dogs through various training techniques to help overcome certain issues. She dealt with behavior modifications, observed scenarios of different types of dog aggression, and helped fearful dogs work through their problems.

She was selected among 40 graduates to participate in Starmark’s three-month leadership program where she was able to study under her mentors, Jessy Gabriel and Rob Dunn, who are world-renowned IPO/Schutzhund instructors. Not only was this an opportunity for more hands-on experience with dogs, it allowed her to motivate new students, teach classes, and become a mentor herself.

She spent her last years in Texas working for Detection Services International under Gary Eaton. She was in charge of training and leading search teams on Oil Rigs all over Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Alabama, and Alaska. Coming full circle, Keely is now back in Ft. Lauderdale working as a certified trainer for Off Leash K9 Training.
